New Equipment for Environmental Remediation
Chlorinated/Fluorinated Oxidizers
This Hybrid System was designed to offer a complete solution
to hazardous compounds. Catalytic oxidation of chlorinated
compounds provides for high destruction efficiency without
generating products of incomplete combustion. Systems are
available with scrubbing, pre-filter and concentrator modules.
The Intellishare Environmental Chlorinated Catalytic Oxidizer
destroys halocarbon fume streams from a variety of industrial
processes including pharmaceutical, ground remediation and
any manufacturing process that uses chlorinated solvents
as a carrier.
At the heart of this technology is a specialty designed
catalyst that achieves high destruction efficiencies of halocarbons
without the potential for dioxin furan formation and without
degradation of the catalyst in the presence of inorganic
acids.
System Construction
Catalyst
The catalyst is a ceramic honeycomb substrate with proprietary
catalyst coating and a 400 square channel per square inch
face structure. The individual 6' x 6' x 4" catalyst
blocks are assembled and mounted in a gasketed stainless
steel frame. The assembled modules are then inserted into
the reactor an arranged to provide the maximum geometric
surface area possible.
Optional Catalyst Pre-Filter
In some cases, not all potential catalyst deactivation agents
in the fume stream are immediately identified. To prevent
catalyst poisoning and extend its useful life, a catalyst
pre-filter can be used. The catalyst pre-filter is designed
to capture most of the dust phosphorus, silica and heavy
metals that would otherwise cause catalyst deactivation.
The pre-filter can be periodically tested for the presence
of these deactivators and if required, replacement can
be scheduled.
Reactor
Intellishare's standard design features 316L stainless steel
construction. The 316L material contains 2% molybdenum,
which offers superior corrosion resistance over typial
construction using standard 304 stainless steel.
Heat Exchanger
All Intellishare chlorinated units feature a custom built,
high efficiency heat exchanger. By preheating the incoming
vapors, the heat exchanger reduces supplemental energy required
for the burner or electric pre-heater, thereby reducing operating
costs. The heat exchanger also simultaneously reduces the
temperature of the discharge gases.
This reduction in exhaust heat has two primary advantages
should an acid scrubber be required to remove the HCl.
- Reduction in size of the eductor quench results in lower
manufacturing costs
- Increased safety - lower scrubber adiabatic water temperature
reduces potential for the formation of chlorine gas
Primary Air Burner
The primary air burner is sized to provide sufficient energy
to supplement the heat exchanger energy input and maintain
the required catalyst temperature. The burner includes
a spark igniter, transformer and approved flame safety
programmer.
Optional Electric Pre-Heat
Depending on the site specific nature of the project, electric
pre-heat may be a useful alternative to gas fired burners
for preheating the fume stream. Our pre-heaters are available
in a variety of voltages and engineered for long service.
Fuel Gas Piping Assembly
The fuel gas piping assembly is pre-piped and per-wired and
meets all requirements as forth in NFPA 86, NFPA 54 and
is suitable for FM or IRI approval. The assembly consists
of a main shut off valve, Y-strainer, sediment trap, main
and pilot fuel gas pressure regulators, pilot and main
fuel safety shut-off valves, safety valve proving switch,
low and high gas pressure switches, gas control valve with
proof of closure switch, leak test cocks and manual shut-off
valves.
Control Cabinet
The main control panel features our exclusive One-Touch Control
System. The one touch system takes the error out of operator
error and features an operator display to guide the operator
through the sequence of operation and accurately displays
the annunciation of any alarms.
